1. Printable Flashcards

Flashcards are great for learning Chinese vocabulary and sentence structure. Young learners can use the flashcards to learn and review Chinese words and sentences, they can also use the flashcards to do games such as memory games, and match games (print two sets of the flashcards and disorder them, then have the kids match them).

There are over ten different types of activity worksheets for kids to work on, which allow kids to practice vocabulary, sentence structure, Chinese characters, and Pinyin in various ways.

Vocabulary list

The vocabulary list helps manage the overall learning content and activities. It can be used as the answer key to each worksheet, so every time if teachers, parents, or learners are not sure of their answers to a worksheet, they can always refer to this vocabulary list.

Having the vocabulary list, parents who don’t understand Chinese themselves can also manage the learning of their learners.

Pinyin worksheets

Write each Pinyin word by the given syllables.

The practice of Pinyin can give the kids an idea of how a Chinese sound is composed. Learning Pinyin is important for the Chinese language as it is the foundation of Chinese pronunciation, even Chinese elementary school students in China all have to learn Pinyin at the beginning. The I Spy summer worksheet includes the names of six objects for the summer topic and it is free to download.

It has Chinese characters, Pinyin, and pictures of the objects.

It is easy and fun to memorize the words by searching for the pictures of the objects and writing down the number beside each Chinese word. Free download on the I Spy Summer page.

Chinese character worksheets

Activity 1-Word Coloring

Word coloring sheets allow learners to practice writing the characters of the words in a fun way. First, follow the character strokes to write each character with pencils. Then, color each character and its illustration with crayons or coloring pencils to make the worksheets more colorful.

Activity 2-Character Jigsaw

Chinese character jigsaw is great for practicing Chinese characters as Chinese characters visually look like graphics, each character is composed of several parts and all the parts are like line drawings. Putting the parts together to make a Chinese character is fun and engaging, at the same time, it helps learners have an idea of what a Chinese character looks like.

Activity 3-Character Builder

A Chinese character combines several parts, or say components. Among these components, there is one component called radical, which is the basic component of a character and usually indicates the meaning and structure of a character.

It is the basis for Chinese learners to learn Chinese Characters. It is also the basis for Chinese native speakers to learn characters.

The Chinese Character Builder worksheet can help learners get familiar with Chinese radicals.

Sentence Worksheets

There are three pages for sentence practice which include five different kinds of activities.

Activity 1– Fill in the Blanks

Learners will read the two sentences and choose one proper word for each sentence from the four given words and then fill in the blanks.

The hints are given by showing the sentences in Pinyin.

Activity 2-Rearrange Words

This is to practice sentence structure. Rearranging words will make learning think about what the correct order should be. It helps learners enhance their understanding of the grammar and sentence structure rules and is a great exercise for learning a language.

Activity 3-Draw A Picture to Show the Meaning of the Sentence.

This is a fun and relaxed time that allows learners to actively draw about what they have learned. It helps stimulate learners’ creativity and motivation in the learning process.

Activity 4-Copy Sentences

Copying sentences is a traditional way, though, a good way for reinforcing learners’ memory. It also helps enhance learners’ reading comprehension in the future along with the accumulation of their vocabulary.

This exercise can be arranged before or after aforesaid sentence activities.

Activity 5-Sentence Search

Look at the sentences at the bottom of the worksheet and find and circle the sentences in the hidden puzzle.

Activity 1 – Domino Cards Game

Chinese domino cards game is simple and fun to practice characters and words.

No preparation is required. Print the page and cut out the cards along with the solid line.

In this game, kids will try to match each illustration to its Chinese word.

Activity 2 -Bingo

 Bingo game is perfect for learning a language. It helps learners reinforce their vocabulary and enhance listening comprehension.

Activity 3 -Coloring Minibook

Kids love coloring! It’s time for them to make their own little coloring Chinese illustration book!  In this activity, kids can color the pages and then staple them together to make a minibook.
