About Me

On this page, you can find a set of engaging flashcards and activity worksheets for learning seven characters and two simple sentences. It is a part of the topic – About Me.

The two sentences are simple but very commonly used for kids in their communications with friends:

1. ) I am six years old.
2. ) I am a student.

And these two sentences actually only included six characters in total. They are:

我， 是，六，岁，学生
wǒ ， shì ， liù ， suì ， xué shēng

Regarding the numbers in Chinese, there is only the number “six / 六” in the sample sentence. For how to say and write numbers 1 ~ 10, please see the post for numbers 1 to 10 which has the writing worksheets for practicing writing numbers that are free to download.

Flashcards

Print the flashcard pages with the double-sided printing function on A4 or Letterhead paper.

Cut out the cards, read the characters by looking at the side of the cards with Pinyin and characters several times, then turn the cards over and look side of the cards with only characters to try to say the characters.

Kids can also try to make sentences by lining up the cards in order.

Worksheet Activity 1 – Practice writing

Write each character and Pinyin three times. Then write the whole sentences in characters and Pinyin as well. Since some kids are not English native speakers such as my kids. They can also practice writing the sentences in English, this is optional though.

In order to make the writing worksheets more fun, I also created a space to allow kids to draw about themselves. Down below the drawing area, there are also two pictures that kids can color.

Worksheet Activity 2 – Play a Chinese domino cards game with the characters and words.

Chinese cards domino game is simple and fun to practice characters and words.

No preparation is required. Print the page and cut out the cards along with the solid line.

In this game, kids will try to match each English definition to its Chinese character/word.
