How to Do the Chinese Character Jigsaw Puzzle

The Chinese Character Jigsaw Puzzle worksheets are designed to help children learn characters through a hands-on and visual activity. Each puzzle includes Pinyin, the Chinese character, and the English meaning, along with writing grids so learners can also practice writing the character after completing the puzzle.

Start by cutting out the scrambled character pieces on page one. Each piece contains part of the character’s strokes, and the pieces are mixed up to form a puzzle.

Next, assemble the pieces by matching and connecting the lines of the character. Encourage children to look carefully at the stroke shapes and directions to figure out how the pieces fit together. This step helps learners become more familiar with the structure and composition of Chinese characters.

Once the character is correctly formed, place and paste the pieces onto page two, which is the board page for the puzzle. If you would like to reuse the worksheet multiple times, you can simply assemble the pieces on the board page without using glue.

After completing the puzzle, learners can read the Pinyin, say the English meaning, and practice writing the character in the grids.
