What’s Inside the Worksheets

These free worksheets include a variety of hands-on activities:

Color the character – Kids color in the Chinese character (Hanzi) itself, connecting the meaning of the character with a visual cue.

Read new words – See how the color character appears in simple combined words, expanding vocabulary step by step.

Trace and write – Practice tracing and writing both the character and its Pinyin, building memory through repetition.

Find and circle – A mini search game that helps kids recognize the target character.

Color the picture – Fun coloring sections reinforce the meaning of each color word while keeping learning playful.

How to Use These Worksheets

  • In the classroom:
    • Begin by introducing the color word using flashcards or objects in the room.
    • Hand out the worksheet and guide students through the “trace and write” section.
    • Use the “find and circle” activity as a group challenge, then let students finish coloring independently.
    • Wrap up by practicing the new words aloud as a class.
  • At home:
    • Parents can introduce one color word at a time.
    • Encourage your child to say the word in Chinese and Pinyin while tracing it.
    • Use crayons or markers to color both the characters and the pictures.
    • Reinforce learning by pointing out colors in everyday life (“This apple is 红 hóng – red”).
