YCT1 Lesson 5: How old are you?

Flashcards

The large-size flashcards are good for teachers or parents to present new words or sentences as they are easier to see and read.

The small-size flashcards are good for young learners to manage and hold.

Young learners can use flashcards to play games such as matching games and bingo games, etc.

Numbers 1 to 100

In lesson five, students will learn to count numbers from 1 to 100 in Chinese.

Here I created the 100 charts in color version and black & white version. The color version is more eye-catching while the black & white version is more eco.

As some students may only need to learn how to read numbers in Chinese, they do not need to know how to write for the time being, I made the 100 chart in numbers with Pinyin only without Chinese characters.

Recommended Chinese Learning Materials

If you would like a poster for the Chinese number charts, check out the post for free numbers 1-100 charts. Both with and without Chinese characters versions are available.

Chinese character jigsaw puzzle

Character jigsaw is a great fun and hands-on practice. My kids and students love it!

Each character worksheet includes two activities.

  1. Jigsaw – Cut out the scrambled character pieces on the first page with scissors and paste them together on the second page with glue to form a Chinese character. For small kids, parents need to cut out the pieces for their kids.
  2. Character writing – This activity requests handwriting skills and is for kids aged 5 and above.

Key sentence copying sheet

Copying sentences is a traditional way, though, a good way for reinforcing learners’ memory. It also helps enhance learners’ reading comprehension in the future along with the accumulation of their vocabulary.

Each sentence has Chinese characters, Pinyin, English translations, and traceable characters. It helps the learners better memorize the sentences.
