I usually start my class with greetings and asking students’ feelings. As students are getting more and more familiar with expressing their feelings, I introduced the emotions/feelings jar to my students and let them stick emotions/feelings emoji of themselves to the emotions jar after each of them telling the class about their feelings.
My students love the activity of sticking feelings emojis. Putting all their feelings emojis into the jar makes the jar looks so colorful and vivid. This activity brings much fun and it is engaging and can be a great warm-up activity to start the class.
On this page, you can find the emotions/feelings jar with emojis that are free to download.
Preparation
Teachers or parents print out the jar and emojis on A4 sized paper or other sizes of paper you like. Make sure to set the printing scale to fit the printing area.
Cut out the jar and emojis.
Laminate for durable use.
Put magnet or adhesive dot on each emoji as well as the jar.
If you would like to stick the jar on the whiteboard, put magnet on the back of the jar as well.
Done!
How to play
I stick the jar on the bottom left corner of the white-board. At greeting time, I ask each student about how he or she is today. Student will reply me and choose an emoji and stick it on the jar.
Once all students are finished, we can see the jar is filled with vivid emojis and colorful.
The emotions/feelings jar can also be used as gratitude jar, compliment jar, etc.. It can also be used for various activities such sorting activity, numbers activity, color activity, pinyin activity and themed activites as well.
There are vibrant emojis and eco color emojis that you can choose from.
