🎲 How to Play

Preparation:

  1. Print the dice game board on A4 paper (or A4x2 for a bigger version).
  2. Prepare some counters, pencils, or a small prize if you want to make it more exciting!
  3. Get ready a die.

Game Instructions:

Gather 2–6 players (great for small groups or pairs).

Take turns rolling the dice.

When a player rolls, they name the food that appears — first in Chinese (with help from the pinyin if needed), then say it in English.

Teachers can add extra fun:

🧡 Game Ideas

1. Vocabulary Practice (ESL or Chinese):

  • Roll the dice and name the food in English or Chinese.
  • Ask students to use the word in a sentence.
    • Example: I like turkey! / 我喜欢火鸡。

2. Conversation Game:
Each player rolls and answers a related question.

  • “Do you like ___?”
  • “Have you eaten ___ before?”
  • “Which food do you eat at Thanksgiving?”

3. Memory & Speed Game:
Say all foods you’ve rolled so far — if you forget one, you’re out!

4. Story Starter:
Roll the dice three times and make up a short Thanksgiving story using the foods you got.

For ESL learners, practice both English food vocabulary and cultural talk about Thanksgiving.

Optional Variations:

  • Memory Challenge: Roll twice — if both are the same, say one food from memory.
  • Race Game: The first player to say all 7 foods correctly wins.
  • Classroom Warm-Up: Use the dice as a quick 5-minute activity at the start of class.
