1. Vocabulary List

The vocabulary list helps manage the overall learning content and activities. It can be used as the answer key to the whole learning pack.

The Christmas theme pack contains eight words and one expression.

The eight words can be either introduced all at once or slit up into two parts by learning four words each session since the Pinyin and Chinese characters worksheets can be split up accordingly.

2. Flashcards

Flashcards are great and effective learning tools for learning Chinese vocabulary. Kids can use flashcards to learn, practice, and review vocabulary. Besides, Flashcards can also be turned into fun and engaging Chinese learning games, which make the learning process more fun and interactive.

There are two versions of the flashcards in the learning pack: the single-sided version and the double-sided version.

Single-sided version

The single-sided version has a picture, Chinese characters, Pinyin (for spelling out the sound in Chinese), and English definitions all on one side. Kids can look at the pictures and read the words by looking at the Pinyin and trying to memorize how to say the words in Chinese.

Double-sided version

For double-sided flashcards, one side has Chinese characters, and the other side has an image, Pinyin, and English translation. It can help kids who are learning or would like to learn Chinese characters learn, practice, and memorize Chinese characters.

How to Print the Flashcards

When printing the flashcards, bear in mind to set the printer to print in landscape orientation. For double-sided flashcards, select double-sided printing and flip on the short edge. Please make sure the paper is neatly placed in the printer so that the flashcards for double-sided printing can align properly. Suggest printing the flashcards on heavy paper for durable use. Laminate is perfect for durable use.

Since the flashcards have a different layout from that of the worksheets, I included them at the end of the printable pack in order to manage the print work easier.

Using Flashcards For Games

Matching Games – There are several ways to print the flashcards and do the matching game based on the learning goals. You can have the kids match Pinyin, match characters, or more difficulty, match Pinyin/English to the characters.

Other learning games such as Charades, and Bingo, etc. can also be played with flashcards.

3. Worksheets

Pinyin Worksheets

Learning Pinyin is a fundamental step in learning Chinese, as it lays the groundwork for accurate pronunciation, listening skills, and overall language proficiency.

These Pinyin worksheets can help kids get familiar with the composition of the structure of the sound for the Chinese characters, which will support kids’ spelling and pronunciation of Chinese characters and words.

Vocabulary Worksheets

The vocabulary worksheets have not only Chinese characters but also Pinyin, as Pinyin helps spell out the characters, it can support the kids to read and learn the Chinese vocabulary.

Chinese Character Worksheets

There are four Chinese character activities:

1) Trace and Write the Characters; 2) Chinese Character Jigsaw, 3) Match the word to the picture; and 4) Word Search.

They are perfect for kids to learn and memorize Chinese characters from visual perception to handwriting.

Chinese Character Jigsaw

Chinese Character Jigsaw activity is one of the above four character practicing activities and is the most popular Chinese characters practicing worksheets for our subscribers as they are fun, engaging, and no-prep activity.

The Chinese Character Jigsaw activity includes not only Chinese character jigsaw puzzles but also tracing and writing activities, Each Chinese character on this worksheet incorporates Pinyin, stroke order, and English definition which are accessible to learners of all levels, from beginners to advanced students. There are also Pinyin writing grids on the worksheets that allow kids to practice writing Pinyin as well.

This activity can be used for kids aged 5+ as it is fun and engaging compared with the character writing activity.

On the contrary, the Chinese writing worksheets are more suitable for older kids (aged 8+ ) to practice writing. In this case, the Chinese Character Jigsaw can be picked selectively as a fun, motivating, and reinforcement activity.

With English translation and Pinyin on it, kids will be able to know the meaning and how each character is pronounced. Just simply fill the their names, their age, and the present they would like from Santa, and they got it done!
