Dice games are fun and enjoyable. They also can be used to engage students in a Chinese class. Roll and tell is one of the dice games that can add fun and interaction to the Chinese class.
On this page, you can find two versions of dice game- Roll and Tell with Nouns, the Hanzi version and the Hanzi+Pinyin version.


How to play the Roll and Tell with Nouns
Preparation
Print out the Roll and Tell with Nouns worksheet on A4 paper. It can also be printed on other sized paper, just set the print scaling to “fit to printable area”. Suggesting using hard cardstock or laminate for durable use.
Get a die.
If you don’t have dice, check out our free dice template, print the dice template out with cardstock, cut out the dice shape, and glue the edges.
Ready to play
Students work in pairs or small groups, take turns to roll the die and answer the question next to the number that they land on. There are three items corresponding to each number; if the first item is done, then the next time when the die lands on the same number, it will go to the second item. Likewise, the third.

The roll and tell dice game is good for warm-up or as a stirrer activity. It is also great for review of vocabulary with the class.
