Word search is a fun and engaging activity that helps kids recognize and remember Chinese characters through play.

It is a great way to review vocabulary and boost character recognition skills in an enjoyable way!

On this page, you can find three pages of summer themed word search which featuring cute images for kids to work on.

Each page has six Chinese words for kids to search for. Answer keys are provided.

Word List:

Dolphin: 海豚, hǎi tún
Sea turtle: 海龟, hǎi guī
Jellyfish: 水母, shuǐ mǔ
Seashell: 贝壳, bèi ké
Hermit crab: 寄居蟹, jì jū xiè
Octopus: 章鱼, zhāng yú

Juice: 果汁, guǒ zhī

How to play it

Here are a few fun and effective ways for kids to do Chinese word searches:

1. Circle the words – Use a pencil, crayon, or marker to circle the found words in the puzzle.
2. Highlight the words – Kids can use colored highlighters to make it more colorful and visually fun.
3. Color each word differently – Assign a different color to each vocabulary word for visual learning.
4. Group work – Let children work in pairs or small groups to encourage discussion and teamwork.
5. Team/Individual Challenge – Divide the class into small teams or individually; the first team/student to complete the puzzle wins a small prize or sticker.

Kids will enjoy recognizing the Chinese words while having fun.
